- GOV. GUINN MEMORIAL MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP
A Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Millennium Scholarships may be awarded to two students each year to supplement current Gov. Guinn Millennium Scholarship students who meet the following criteria:
- Must currently be an eligible Millennium Scholar;
- Must be entering his/her senior or last year of college with 90 or more credits at an eligible institution;
- Be enrolled in and remain enrolled in a course of study leading to licensure in elementary or secondary education;
- Maintain a college grade point average of not less than 3.5 on a 4.0 grading scale;
- State a commitment to teaching in Nevada upon graduation; and
- Have a commendable record of community service.
In 2011, the Nevada Legislature unanimously approved and Governor Sandoval signed into law Senate Bill 220, establishing the Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Millennium Scholarship. The trust fund is used to bestow additional scholarships each year to two qualified Gov. Guinn Millennium Scholars, one each in Northern and Southern Nevada, who are majoring in elementary or secondary education with the intent of teaching in Nevada.
- Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship
The SMART Scholarship for Service Program is open only to citizens of the United States. Persons who hold permanent resident status are not eligible. Proof of citizenship will be required. Students must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible. Applicants for undergraduate awards must be already enrolled in a U.S. college or university.
Applicants must also be pursuing a degree in or closely related to a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

- Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) College Scholarship Program
The Sacramento Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) awards scholarships annually to high school and college students who are studying engineering or related technical disciplines. Scholarships will vary from $1,000 to $4,000 for students in high school, junior college, and college students that are pursuing a degree in any
engineering field or related technical sciences (including architecture, mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, and earth sciences). Please note that biology, microbiology, and related natural sciences are no longer considered to be engineering-related majors. Applications open in January and are due by mid- March.
- The American Welding Society Arsham Amirikian Engineering Scholarship
Offered to students planning on pursuing a career in applying welding in the civil and structural engineering field. Students must be pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or welding related field. Qualifications include maintenance of at least a 3.0 GPA, proof of financial need, and currently attending or planning on attending an accredited engineering school.
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
- Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
- Proof of financial need is required to qualify.
- Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an accredited engineering school located within the United States
- Applicant must submit all required application information.
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average throughout the academic year to apply for continued assistance in successive years. The maximum time allowed for financial aid under this grant is four years.
The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The program offers one $2,500 award every year. The deadline is February 15.
- NURSE Corps Scholarship Program
As a student accepted or enrolled in a diploma, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree nursing program, you can receive funding for tuition, fees, and other educational costs. In exchange you must work at an eligible facility with a critical shortage of nurses-a Critical Shortage Facility (CSF)-upon graduation. The purpose of the NURSE Corps Scholarship Program is to provide scholarships to nursing students in exchange for a minimum two-year full-time service commitment (or part-time equivalent), at an eligible health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses.
The NURSE Corps Scholarship Program enables you to fulfill your passion to care for underserved people in some of the neediest communities across the country.
If awarded, you will receive financial support, including:
- tuition;
- eligible fees;
- annual payment for other reasonable costs, such as books, clinical supplies/instruments and uniforms; and
- a monthly stipend ($1,344 for the 2017-2018 academic year).
Requirements:
Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited nursing degree program at one of the following:
- AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE SCHOOL OF NURSING: A department, division, or other administrative unit in a junior college, community college, college, or university which provides primarily or exclusively a two-year program of education in professional nursing and allied subjects leading to an associate degree in nursing or to an equivalent degree and is an accredited program.
- A COLLEGIATE SCHOOL OF NURSING: A department, division, or the administrative unit in a college or university which provides primarily or exclusively a program of education in professional nursing and related subjects leading to a degree of bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of nursing, graduate degree in nursing, or to an equivalent degree, and including advanced training related to such program of education provided by such school and is an accredited program.
- A DIPLOMA SCHOOL OF NURSING: A school affiliated with a hospital or university, or an independent school, which provides primarily or exclusively a program of education in professional nursing and allied subjects leading to a diploma or to an equivalent evidence of completion and is an accredited program.
